Summer Reading

The 2023 Summer Reading theme is “All Together Now.” – Please check back as we update this page in the coming months!

This year, our programs are either in Park School Gym or “Live and Outside” in the Locust Street Park.  Please bring chairs or a blanket for your group if outdoors.  Families should sit together.  You can access summer programs below.  In the interest of community partnership, we have also included are the Edible Classroom Garden Camp, River Park programs for children, Music in the Park, and Movies in the Park.  THE CALENDAR WILL UPDATE FREQUENTLY IN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS!  If you have questions, please email info@columbiapubliclibrary.org.  We owe a huge debt of gratitude to D.H. Funk Excavating for paying for these summer programs through the EITC program.

Summer Reading Minutes can be recorded on a new app called “Beanstack” or you can access paper logs at the library.  Click here for the Beanstack Mobile App.  Ages continue as Preschool (ages 0-4), Junior (ages 5-9), Tween (ages 10-12), and Teen (ages 13-19).  If you pick up paper logs at the library, we can enter the info on the computer for you.

The Scavenger Hunt returns this year!  Look for ocean animals in the windows of local businesses.  Record them on your answer sheet – when finished, bring your paper to the library.  Completed correct papers win a free book from Scholastic!

Prize coupons are also here – when you finish your reading log/minutes, stop by the library for some great passes!  Sponsors include McDonalds, Country Barn, Leisure Lanes, Waters’ Edge Miniature Golf, Isaacs, Strasburg Railroad, Tiny Town, Bounce Kraze, Skyzone Trampoline Park, the Comic Store, Laser Dome, Lancaster Cupcake, Rita’s Ice, and Refreshing Mountain Ziplines.
