Cake Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups sugar
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup canola oil
- 1 cup hot water
- Supplies: Large bowl, mixing spoon, measuring cups and spoons, cupcake liners, cupcake pan
Choose a Frosting:
- Marshmallow Buttercream Frosting: ¾ cup unsalted butter (softened), 7 oz. container marshmallow cream ,1 cup powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Supplies: Electric mixer (with bowl), spoon, measuring cups and spoons
- Peppermint Whipped Cream Frosting: whipped cream, crushed candy canes
- Optional toppings on either frosting: marshmallows, chocolate chips, crushed or whole mini candy canes
