“The Warmth of Other Suns: the Epic Story of America’s Great Migration”.

One of the great untold stories of American history is the decades-long migration of black citizens who fled the South between 1915 and 1970 to northern and western cities, in search of a better life.  Wilkerson interviewed over 1,000 people as part of her research. She describes the treacherous and exhausting cross-country trips by car and train, new lives in colonies of fellow blacks, and the unique food, faith, and culture these black citizens brought to cities such as New York and Chicago.
